Erosion and Sediment Control Measures
The following erosion and sediment control measures (BMPs) will be constructed prior to commencement of clearing and grubbing operations and infilling of the stream through the site:
a) Temporary diversion channels at the edge of the platforms to nearest road side drain of the site access road.
b) Stabilised site access and sediment fence along lower perimeter of site as shown in parcel 6 & 8.
c) Stockpiles as shown in parcel 6 & 8 to be ready for future used.
d) Temporary access to each platform to follow the permanent road alignment to be ready prior to any platform creation.
e) Sediment basin and earth bank for parcel 6 & 8 as shown in the plan, and barrier fencing to protect area surrounding the basin.
f) Temporary waterway crossing, sediment inlet control and drainage outlet protection.
g) Check dam along the temporary diversion channels as shown in parcel 6 & 8.
h) Preserve existing vegetation at undisturbed area as shown in parcel 6 & 8.

No. Erosion and Sediment Control Measures
1 Construction Access Stabilisation
Description
- stabilised pad of aggregate with filter cloth
- located at entrance/ exit of construction site
Function
- stabilize site entrance
Applications
- points of construction entry and exit
2 Preservation of Existing Vegetation
- preserve existing vegetation
Function
- minimize potential of removing existing trees or grasses
- act as buffer zones
- serve as erosion controls
Application
- Sensitive areas such as steep slopes
3 Earth Bank
- temporary berm or ridge of compacted soil
Function
- divert runoff away from disturbed or unstable slopes to sediment basin
- reduce erosion and off-site sedimentation
Application
- unstable slopes, undisturbed areas and around disturbed areas
4 Sediment Basins
- structure formed by excavation and/or construction of an embankment
Function
- to collect and store sediment from sites before it leaves the construction site
- a temporary measure (design life of 12 to 18 months)
Application
- all types of construction projects for area > 2 ha.
5 Drainage Inlet Protection
- a sediment filter around or upstream of a stormwater drain
Function
- prevents excessive sediment from entering stormwater drainage systems
Application
- All on-site stormwater inlets
6 Temporary Waterway Crossing
- temporary access waterway crossing such as culvert or bridge placed across a waterway
- provide access for a period of less than one year
Function
- used to access points on construction sites
Application
- should be installed at all designated crossings
