2.1.4 Work Example 2.3- Derive Hyetograph for Kuching, Sarawak

Locaton: Kuching, Sarawak

Catchment size: 120 km2

Compute the 3 hr duration, 50 year ARI storm hyetograph.

Step 1- Compute using the spreadsheet from Worked Example 2.1 the IDF for Kuching on using the coefficient a, b, c and d in App13.A1 on Pg 107.

Step 2- Apply the Areal Reduction Factor in Table 2.1 on Pg 25 to the IDF data in Step 1.

Step 3- Go to App 13.B on Pg 109, refer to Table 13.B2- use the temporal pattern for East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

For Duration of 180 min ie, 3 hr, use the Fraction of Rainfall in Each Time Period.

For 180 min, it has 6 time steps of .19, .23, .19, .16, .13, .10.

Step 4- Apply the above to the 180 min IDF data computed in Step 2 above.
